This 5-day hiking tour includes the best of Trollheimen, Dovre and Sunndal National Parks. With contrasting mountain areas and varied nature. Waterfalls, mountain, beautiful valleys, twisted roads, and a Viking graveyard. This Norway hiking trip includes it all!.
Starting in Oppdal, we visit the largest graveyard from the Viking period in Norway before we start our hike. Heading down towards the coastline, you will visit the famous waterfalls in Åmotan, Alfheim – a beautiful building made of one of the English lords who came to the area for fishing hundreds of years ago. We will drive to Nerdalen and hike in Innerdalen – famous for being one of the most beautiful valleys in Norway! Aursjøveien, which is famous for being tougher and more spectacular than Trollstigen, we do by car. From the fjord – up to the mountain plateau and down to the fjord again! We hike in Vengedalen and visit Trollstigen, before we return to Åndalsnes where we can catch the train.
Day 1 – Oppdal – Åmotan – Vangshaugen - Phillipshaugen
On this first hiking day, we will meet in Oppdal in the morning after breakfast. Transportation to Åmotan, approx 40 minutes.
Åmotan is at the entrance of the Dovre – and Sunndal National Park, and Åmotan is a famous waterfall. We hike down to the bottom of the waterfall and do a circle around where actually three waterfalls are connecting into one river. After this hike, we continue with the car to Vangshaugen, where we will enjoy our lunch. After lunch, we will take a hike along the lake, and also visit Alfheim – a beautiful building made of one of the English lords who came to the area for fishing hundreds of years ago. After this second hike, we will continue with the car all the way down to the fjord, and to Sunndalsøra. Here we will continue to Øksendalen, and stay at the charming Phillipshaugen Lodge. Dinner in the evening.

Day 2 Phillispahugen Lodge – Innerdalen – Phillipshaugen Lodge
After breakfast, we would prepare for the hike of the day. We will drive to Nerdalen and hike in Innerdalen – famous for being one of the most beautiful valleys in Norway! Our goal for the day is to reach the Summer farm Rennsdølsetra, and enjoy a waffle lunch by the lake. (www.innerdalen.com) In the evening we will drive back to Phillipshaugen Lodge, and we can do a second shorter hike in the area, for those who would like to do another hike that day.

Day 3 Aursjøveien Rundt – Mardalsfossen - Åndalsnes
Today we enjoy the breakfast, and check out of Phillipshaugen lodge. We will today drive the famous road: Aursjøveien, which is famous for being tougher than Trollstigen, from the fjord – up to the mountain plateau and down to the fjord again! This is a hidden treasure, and we will take time to do several small stops during the day, for hiking.
We will enjoy the lunch during the day. We will make stop at Aursjøhytta, Aurstaupet (our own pulpit rock), and of course hike into Mardalsfossen, the famous waterfall.
We will drive through the charming village of Eikesdalen with 60 inhabitants, and continue all the way to Åndalsnes.
Dinner and accommodation at Hotel Aak in Åndalsnes, a charming place with a great chef!

Day 4 Vengedalen, Åndalsnes
Today we will enjoy a full day of hiking in Vengedalen. Here we have many options, from easier to more challenging hikes. In the evening we will have another great dinner at Hotel Aak.
Transportation: approx 40 minutes
Hiking time: approx 5-7 hours (depending upon what tour we will do)
Day 5 Trollstigen, Åndalsnes - departure
Today is our last day. If time we can drive to the top of Trollstigen, before departure. (Train from Åndalsnes to Oslo or other places, flight from Molde or drive back to Oppdal, where we started.
